EDUARDO VALLEJO PINTO.
Choreographer, performer, producer. Ogmia’s Artistic Director.
Eduardo Vallejo, director, choreographer, producer and teacher (Asturias, Spain), conceives dance as a way of understanding and living life, in an act of vital dedication. His career began with training in classical and contemporary dance in institutions in Europe and the Middle East, and continued developing in various companies, where he worked both as a performer and choreographer.
His choreographic and dramaturgical creation process has two aspects: one more linked to the concept and the other based on his research called Movimiento Dactilar. Through this method of direction, in a first moment, the dancer faces the pathos, starting from the deepest breathing and an intense facial expression. Subsequently, he frees himself from this tension to enter into a more subtle technical investigation, characterized by a soft inertia.
With his first creation together with Ogmia, No Time to Rage (2019), Eduardo was programmed at Teatros del Canal and nominated in four categories of the MAX Awards: best dance show, best choreography, best male performer and best musical composition for stage show. After this, he premiered The Holy Trinity (2020). In 2021 he was selected for the Think Big residencies, where he created a piece that premiered at TANZtheater International Hannover. That same year he won three awards at the Masdanza Festival, including the audience award for best solo.
Mother Tongue (2022), premiered at the 37th Madrid en Danza International Festival, is currently on tour, having been selected for the Tanzplattform Bern 2023 and presented at the Quinzena de Dança de Almada – International Dance Festival. Her most recent creation, Glass House (2023), premiered at the Festival Internacional Danza Xixón 2023, is also still touring and has been presented at the Festival Madrid en Danza and MADferia.
Ogmia and Eduardo Vallejo have participated in festivals such as Festival Internacional Madrid en Danza, Festival Internacional Danza Xixón, TANZ Theatre International Hannover, MASDANZA, Festiwal Teatr i Tanca Zawirowania, Gdansk Festiwal Tanca, Danza en la Villa, Festival Abril en Danza, Traslación, among others. His creations have been presented in countries such as Spain, Germany, Italy, Poland, Portugal and Switzerland.
